Hello everyone. Me and my current pup on program Moose are participating in Guiding Eyes first ever month-long virtual marathon (26.2 miles!) and need your help. Guiding Eyes is an organization that I hold near and dear to my heart. Guiding Eyes has been a part of my life since 2003 when my mom received her first puppy, and I continued to carry on the puppy raising once I was in high school. I am currently raising my 6th puppy (Mr. Moose), and being a puppy raiser for me is more of a passion than a job. Each of the pups I have raised/trained hold a special place in my heart, and take a piece of it with them when they go. But I love every second of it, from start to finish.
What better way to help raise money for this awesome organization that gives so much to the people that need it most than to participate in their virtual marathon! It costs $50,000 from start to finish for these pups to become guide dogs, and Guiding Eyes does not ask for a cent in return from their students. They give away their dogs free of charge! You will not find many service dog organizations like that. All the money raised will be put toward continuing to be able to provide fully trained, well-bred, healthy guide dogs to the individuals that need them. Plus, who doesn't want an extra push to go the extra mile on that walk or hike, especially now that the weather is warming up!
