Since 1999, my family and I have been volunteer puppy raisers for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. In those years, we've been privileged to raise 18 puppies for this amazing cause. Being a puppy raiser is a journey of patience, consistency, and love. It's a volunteer commitment of 24 hours a day for over a year where an 8 week old puppy comes into my arms, and I have the opportunity to help it become a guide dog. No matter how many late nights and early mornings, rainy potty breaks, and puppy moments, it has given me so much more than I could ever give. Over the years, I have walked countless miles beside my Guiding Eyes puppies, and it has taught me a life lesson I will never forget. It has taught me to enjoy the journey- the moment of right now.

In the month of May, I'll be walking in the Guiding Eyes Virtual Wag-A-Thon marathon with Logan (15 months old) and Clifford (3 months old) who are both the Guiding Eyes puppies I'm currently raising. Each guide dog is worth approximately $50,000, and every month, approximately 12 guide dogs graduate, given COMPLETELY free of charge.
