Regal's Retirement
I have big news - after nearly eight years working professionally as Rebekah Cross’s guide dog extraordinaire and Donor Relations Royalty, the time has come for me to embark (pun intended) on a new journey.
That’s right, I will be hanging up my guide dog harness on April 25, 2025, and transitioning to a life of leisure with my puppy raiser family.
Since 2017, Rebekah and I have enjoyed many adventures together. I’ve safely guided her through cities large and small - New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, just to name a few. We’ve traveled thousands of miles on every type of transportation - planes, trains, buses, cars and taxis, boats and ferries, even a golf cart. I’ve taken great pleasure in showing Rebekah landmarks of interest, whether it be a coffee shop or our mailbox, our hotel room when traveling or those pesky staircases that pop up out of nowhere. I particularly always enjoyed showing Rebekah elevators, they’re my favorite. Of course, there is just nothing like our long walks together to take in the beautiful day.
During my time as Donor Relations Royalty, I have gotten the great honor of meeting many of you, the amazing people who make guide dogs like me possible. Thank you for trusting Guiding Eyes with your kindness - you make such a difference.
You may wonder what I would like to recognize my years of service. I’m not much into watches or trinkets, but what means the world to me is if you would consider helping some of my friends in training as they learn the ropes of becoming guide dogs by making a donation in my honor to Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
Rebekah’s next partner will have big paws to fill, but I know that they’ll be up to the challenge, thanks to everyone at Guiding Eyes, including you!
